” Much like a carousel, the ride, the excitement and the fantasy that surrounds you will last the duration of the investment.”his

This quote is so true when it comes to training. If you don’t use it, you lose it! As long as you keep plugging the proverbial quarters into your training and dieting, you will always have fun (results). Make an investment in yourself and and plug those quarters away, each day, every day! I am getting back on track with my own training where I look forward to it once again. I am getting back into Martial Arts and boxing, as well as just getting stronger with my DC training.

Yesterday I hit a new PR on bench: 235 x20, x4, x2… That is huge for me. Today was a shoulder day. I also was hitting decent weights. Since my arms are so damn long, I take a wider grip and go to parallel with my biceps to floor. This puts the bar only to the top of my head but I can focus on my shoulders more and not my aching clavicle and chest as I stretch behind my head. The last rep for these 5×10 I did I did go all the way down to my traps just to get the stretch, but I am not doing that every rep. I have been in the game long enough to realize this doesn’t benefit me in any way and I am going to try something new.

I have been doing all my belts in Tae Kwon Do and working back up to my Black Belt. There are a lot of kicking combinations and one-step sparring combo’s to relearn but I need to make this a priority. My hips feel amazing now that I am doing these again and I just want to keep working at it. After I received my black belt I moved into Muay Thai and started fighting, forgetting where I came from and how much I enjoyed just practicing for hours by myself and having the focus and discipline.

Take your quarters and invest in your health! The ride can go on for a long time!

I wasn’t as crazy as last week with 285 for 25 reps in a row. I did 5×5 today with 305. It felt much better with some breaks in between each set. After squatting, I did 2×15 and 2×10 on leg curls. I have been doing more cardio lately and getting back into martial arts and boxing. It feels good to change it up. I have been grinding weight for a while now, and the change of pace with the boxing and martial arts is welcomed.

If you are ever having problems or getting stuck with your workouts, try something new. You will be refreshingly surprised.

That’s what I call success.”
What have you done for me lately? You need to focus on now and not what you did in your past. Today was a day when I had to push through to reach new goals. It was tough from the lifting standpoint because I benched on Saturday again and Monday is my normal bench day. Instead of worrying about what you did last time, lets focus on this next set! Today’s workout:

Bench: 235: 16,3,2

Chest flyes: 3×10

Inverted rows: 3×10

Triceps pushdowns, bentover tricep pushdowns (facing away from pillar)

Need to focus on stretching right now.

But this past Saturday I decided to hop in with Kirk on benching. I ended up hitting 355 for a single and then did 315 for a cluster of 2 reps;3 clusters. I died on the third with 315.

My chest wad really sore today but I still wanted to hit my reps. It was a little worse than last week but hitting those heavy reps made the weight feel so much lighter. I did 225 for 15,2,2. A little off but not bad. I did fat grips on bent over rows, chest flyes, skull krushers and finished with 3×3min jump rope and 3,300yd shuttles.

Decent lift today. Spent all day yesterday in Chicago playing a featured extra on a tv show. I got home at 11 last night and slept in until 5am. Felt pretty good but had a lot on my mind.
I hit shoulders today. 135 for 3×10. When I couldn’t get low enough after the first set I just stayed high and pounded out the other reps, otherwise I would have maybe gotten 10,3,3 for those set. I hit Bulgarians with 95 for 3×12. Then worked up to 185 for 1×2 each leg. Lateral raises and front raises followed.

Today I increased my weight for my Bench. I hit 235 for 16,3,2 today. My triceps were fried after that. I then hit bent over rows and closegrip press. Finished up with 3, 3 minute rounds of jump rope with 20 pushups btwn.

Right now I am waiting for lunch at a tv show set called “Ride Along.” I have been chillin in a suit since 5:30am. It is kind of fun because I am in shorts and t shirt usually all day. Good change but boring right now.

I am timid for today’s workout because I might end up competing in tomorrows strongman contest in Eau Claire. I hit closegrip press @135 for 5×10, db curls, db skull krushers, concentration curls, 3×20 leg raises and a lot of band walks.
